MAKATI, Philippines – On 11 September 2024, the Asian Institute of Management-School of Executive Education and Lifelong Learning (AIM-SEELL) and the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, Inc. (UERM) formalized their partnership with a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing for a new, specially designed program — the UERM Healthcare Management Development Program (UERM HMDP). This program, which will cater to two cohorts of 50 participants, is designed to equip UERM’s current and future leaders with the critical skills needed to navigate the multifaceted landscape of healthcare management.
The UERM HMDP is a comprehensive management program crafted by AIM-SEELL for medical and non-medical managers and leaders of UERM’s hospital and medical school. Delivered face-to-face on-campus over 18 whole days, it aims to enhance participants’ healthcare management and corporate leadership capabilities. The program covers six modules in strategic financial management, hospital operations, strategic foresight, corporate innovation, leadership, and marketing. Throughout the program, participants will develop a robust skill set, enabling them to address industry-specific challenges, optimize processes, and implement effective strategies.
During the MOA signing event, AIM President and Dean Dr. Jikyeong Kang, opened the ceremony by emphasizing the significance of innovation and leadership in today’s healthcare sector. She remarked, “It is really important that we recognize how innovation, leadership, and data-driven decision-making can help any industry or profession. Our partnership with UERM marks a significant journey towards empowering healthcare professionals with these essential skills.”
UERM President and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Norbert Lingling D. Uy, MD, MEM, MSPH, expressed optimism about the program’s potential impact. “We strongly believe that the management development program will significantly enhance the skills and capabilities of our organization’s current and future leaders,” he said. He noted that the program will provide UERM’s healthcare leaders with a robust understanding of key areas, greatly expanding their expertise.
Professor Alberto Mateo, Jr., Head of the School of Executive Education and Lifelong Learning (SEELL), closed the ceremony by reaffirming the Institute’s commitment to delivering a transformative learning experience. “The goal is to enable UERM’s leaders to inspire their teams, which, in turn, will help transform not only their institution but Philippine society as a whole.”
During the ceremony, Dr. Kang and Dr. Uy signed the official partnership documents, commencing the collaborative journey between the two institutions. The signing was witnessed by Prof. Mateo, along with Mr. Wilson Young, Vice Chairman of the Board and Chief Operating Officer, and Ms. Anne Marie V. Virtucio, Vice President for Administration, both from UERM, who were present to show their support for the program.
The UERM Healthcare Management Development Program represents a shared commitment between AIM-SEELL and UERM to enhance the healthcare sector’s leadership capabilities. The program is poised to make a lasting impact on the future of healthcare management in the Philippines, with two cohorts of participants set to embark on this learning journey.
