Exploring New Perspectives at Global Network Week: A Journey of Learning and Collaboration - AIM Leader

The Asian Institute of Management (AIM), a member of the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM), recently sent six of its International MBA students to participate in GNAM’s Global Network Week (GNW) program. GNW offers students an enriching experience to expand their global business perspective by studying at leading business schools around the world.

Through focused, intensive courses designed by each host institution, GNW enables students and faculty to dive into contemporary business issues, leveraging the unique insights, local expertise, and academic strengths of each network school.

This experience went beyond the classroom, with participants attending classes alongside their peers from other network schools, visiting local businesses, and meeting industry experts tackling real-world business challenges. One of the student participants, Tobias Zellier, reflected on his time at Fudan University in Shanghai, sharing, “Engaging with peers from diverse backgrounds and analyzing emerging trends like ‘New Retail’ in China was intellectually stimulating and underscored the power of cross-cultural collaboration. Presenting our findings as a team from global institutions and earning recognition reinforced the value of diverse perspectives in solving complex challenges.”

Rahardian Patria, from the same cohort, echoed the transformative impact of GNW, noting, “Engaging with leaders at Commonwealth Bank and McKinsey & Company during my time at Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) provided invaluable insights into responsible AI strategies and cultural nuances in global business practices. The experience broadened my understanding of how businesses adapt to technological advancements while prioritizing collaboration and cultural sensitivity.”

Camille Yao, iMBA 2024 emphasized how the diversity of her peers at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford deepened her understanding of global business, “Meeting individuals from around the world, each with unique perspectives and experiences, profoundly impacted my understanding of global business. These interactions underscored the importance of cultural awareness and adaptability in today’s interconnected business landscape.”

GNW is exclusive to the Institute’s International and Executive MBA students. For this batch, students had the opportunity to engage with renowned institutions, including Fudan University School of Management (China), Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley (USA), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Business School (Hong Kong), Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (India), Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford (UK), UBC Sauder School of Business (Canada), UNSW Business School (Australia), and the University of Indonesia Faculty of Economics (Indonesia).

Global Network Week exemplifies the value of international collaboration in education, equipping students with a broader view of global business challenges and fostering networks that extend beyond borders.
