Bereavement Advisory: Professor Francisco 'Jun' Bernardo, Jr., former Dean of Asian Institute of Management - AIM Leader

The Asian Institute of Management announces with deep sorrow the passing of Professor Emeritus and former Dean Francisco “Jun” P. Bernardo, Jr.

Dean Bernardo, Jr. was a well-loved and highly esteemed professor whose teaching career at AIM spanned more than 50 years.  His field of expertise included Operations Management, Strategic Planning, Logistics Planning, Project Management, and Executive Development Training.

A mechanical engineer by training, Dean Bernardo, Jr.’s preferred subject to teach was Operations Management, particularly in the MBA program.  He was well known as an exacting professor, always expecting to draw deep insights and impart enduring lessons to his students.  As a testament to his brilliance, anyone who ever took his subject not only became better at managing but, more importantly, at managing with a purpose.

His students’ love and respect for him was well reciprocated by his unceasing tribute to the “energetic, bright, and motivated students”, who made his long teaching career most memorable.

The AIM community extends its deepest condolences to the Bernardo family.  A memorial in his honor has been created at the AIM main lobby to allow members of the AIM community to offer tributes via a message book.  For those who cannot visit but wish to send their condolences or recall their fond remembrances of Dean Bernardo, Jr., kindly send these to officeofthedean@aim.edu.  All your messages will be compiled and presented to the Bernardo family.

A special memorial service will be organized to commemorate his 40th day.  The whole AIM community is encouraged to attend and celebrate Dean Bernardo, Jr.’s well-lived life of educating generations of leaders and managers to be better, to be different, and to be more.  Details of the service and how to participate will be posted as soon as confirmed.
