It was a pleasure to welcome back Rakesh Kumar, TMP 2003, to AIM. Rakesh is in Manila visiting his daughter, whose husband works as an expatriate at Republic Cement. Rakesh recounted his wonderful time at AIM and brought along a souvenir photo taken during the TMP graduation. No less than the former President of the Philippines Cory Aquino was their graduation speaker!
He credits his learnings from the Top Management Program (TMP) as life-changing, resulting in his posting as CEO of Life Insurance Corporation of India Mauritius Offshore Ltd. barely a year after graduation.
Rakesh is also an author. His book, Desi Manager, was published in 2023 and has since been translated into 11 languages. It provides insight into the effective use of Bhartiya values in harmony with Western management practices, taking inputs from scriptures and Chanakya Niti.
Nowadays, Rakesh keeps busy delivering lectures on leadership, corporate ethics, and governance. He also teaches a course on Strategic Management at IIM Shillong. An avid writer, he also regularly contributes articles to various publications like Organiser, Uday India, Sirfnews, and others.
It was truly a pleasure to meet Rakesh, and we are heartened by his commitment to provide mentorship and share his wealth of knowledge and experience with our students.
